QUESTIONS / ANSWERS / ESCALATING CONCERN

Frequently Asked Questions

“Frequently” is doing some heavy lifting here.

These are questions we have actually received, questions we assume someone will eventually ask, and several questions included primarily because nobody stopped us.

If your question is not represented below, this either means it is unusually specific or we have successfully avoided thinking about it so far.

FAQ / 001

What exactly is R²?

R² is a small collection of humans making objects inspired by science, history, aviation, pop culture, dark humor, museums, strange materials, and ideas that got significantly out of hand.

Legally, there is probably a more boring answer.

This is the useful one.

FAQ / 002

Is R² pronounced “R squared”?

Yes.

“Arr two” will also successfully get our attention, although somewhere a tiny mathematician may experience an unexplained sense of disappointment.

FAQ / 003

Where can I buy R² products?

Available retail objects leave the archive through R2Threads on Etsy. The Collection records what exists, and Acquire points toward the current purchasing path.

The paperwork is external. The object remains suspiciously real.

Acquire an Object →
FAQ / 004

Do you sell directly through this website?

Not currently. R² does not accept direct retail payment on this website.

Available Collection records link to the active Etsy listing when one exists.

FAQ / 005

Why did you research this product so much?

We didn't mean to.

One source became three. Three became fourteen. Somebody found a digitized technical manual from 1943.

Things deteriorated rapidly from there.

FAQ / 006

How long does processing take?

Processing and production timing varies by object and storefront. Check the current listing for the estimate attached to the object you are considering.

Carrier estimates are evidence, not guarantees.

FAQ / 007

How do I track my order?

Use the tracking details supplied by the storefront or carrier when the service supports them.

Once a parcel enters the carrier's custody, it becomes a small traveling bureaucracy. Tracking is the best available evidence of where it wandered.

Review Shipping Policies →
FAQ / 008

What happens if my package is lost or damaged?

Check the tracking record first. If a parcel appears stalled, lost, or arrives damaged, contact R² with the order details and keep the item and packaging while the evidence is reviewed.

The available remedy depends on the order evidence, storefront requirements, carrier process, and applicable law.

FAQ / 009

Why is there a stuffed rabbit on this website?

We have been advised not to discuss ongoing personnel matters.

FAQ / 010

Do you ship internationally?

International shipping is not a universal R² promise. The live storefront listing determines whether a particular object can travel to a particular destination.

Where offered, customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees, and customs delays may still apply.

Review Shipping Policies →
FAQ / 011

Can I cancel an order?

Contact R² as quickly as possible. There is no universal cancellation window, and approval depends on the order state and the rules of the storefront where it was placed.

A parcel already in transit has achieved procedural momentum and cannot simply be cancelled.

Review Cancellation Policies →
FAQ / 012

Do you make normal things?

Define normal.

No, actually, don't.

We are happier this way.

FAQ / 013

Can I return an item?

Some non-earring retail items may be eligible, but R² has not published a universal return window or eligibility rule. Contact R² before ordering if return eligibility matters to your decision.

Any approved return must follow the instructions provided for that order.

Review Return Policies →
FAQ / 014

Are earrings returnable?

No. For hygiene reasons, earrings are final sale and are not eligible for return or exchange after shipment, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

Damage, defects, or an item materially different from what was ordered can still be reviewed. Fit or preference alone does not create a return exception.

Review the Earring Policy →
FAQ / 015

Why are earrings final sale?

Hygiene. Earrings acquire a personal history almost immediately, and R² declines to archive that particular evidence.

Damaged, defective, or materially misdescribed earrings remain eligible for issue review.

Review the Earring Policy →
FAQ / 016

What if an item arrives damaged or defective?

Contact R² promptly with the order details and a clear description of the problem. Keep the item and packaging; photographs may be requested when they help document the damage or defect.

The appropriate remedy is determined from the circumstances, storefront requirements, and applicable law.

FAQ / 017

Does the rabbit work here?

Define “work.”

FAQ / 018

Do you make custom items?

Sometimes. Custom and commissioned work is considered project by project, and acceptance is not guaranteed.

Approval, pricing, timing, deposit, cancellation, and return terms must be agreed for the specific project before work begins.

Discuss Custom Work →
FAQ / 019

Can I request a custom variation?

You may request one. Tell us what you want changed and include enough detail that we do not have to reconstruct the idea from three adjectives and a blurry screenshot.

Whether the variation is possible, accepted, or available is decided for that request.

FAQ / 020

Do colors and sizes vary?

They can. Handmade processes, material character, artistic finishing, and displays may produce minor visual variation. Available sizes, colors, and other options are listed for each object.

A materially incorrect, defective, or misdescribed item is not ordinary variation.

Examine the Collection →
FAQ / 021

How should I care for jewelry?

Follow the care, fit, material, and safety information supplied with the specific object or listing. R² does not make a universal waterproof, tarnish-proof, or hypoallergenic claim.

Genuine safety information will not be hidden inside jokes.

Review Shop Policies →
FAQ / 022

Why are there so many browser tabs open?

Research.

Do not touch them.

Several are load-bearing.

FAQ / 023

What sizes of plug earrings are available?

Sizes vary by design and current listing. Check the individual Collection record and its active storefront listing for the authoritative options.

R² will not invent fit guidance in the presence of actual measurements.

Examine The Forge →
FAQ / 024

Are dangle plug earrings sold as pairs?

Check the individual listing. Quantity, base style, size, and available options are object-specific, so the listing is the authoritative record of what is included.

Examine The Forge →
FAQ / 025

What materials are used?

Materials vary by object. Check the individual Collection record and active listing for the authoritative details.

A blanket material claim would be tidy, convenient, and wrong.

Examine the Collection →
FAQ / 026

Are all variants always available?

No. Sizes, colors, closures, and other variants can differ by object and current storefront availability.

If a variant is not offered in the active retail listing, the archive does not make it purchasable by force of optimism.

Examine Current Records →
FAQ / 027

Do you restock sold-out items?

Sometimes an object returns, and sometimes it becomes archaeological evidence. R² does not promise restocks.

Check the Collection or contact R² about a specific object.

Ask About an Object →
FAQ / 028

Why do sold-out objects remain in the Collection?

Because the Collection is an archive, not merely a shelf of things currently available for purchase.

Objects remain as evidence. Future historians deserve the full record.

FAQ / 029

What is Save Hangar B?

Save Hangar B is the R² Collection department for designs centered on Tillamook's extraordinary wooden airship hangar, its aircraft, and preservation story.

Things Worth Saving keeps a sourced public record of Hangar B and the organizations doing the preservation work.

Read Things Worth Saving →
FAQ / 030

Does buying a Hangar B item support preservation work?

Do not assume that an unrelated R² purchase funds the museum. The current Etsy listing contains any product information fundraiser statement and acquisition terms.

For direct support, Things Worth Saving links to the museum and preservation organizations. Money sent through those links goes to the named organization, not through R².

Find Direct Support Links →
FAQ / 031

Is R² officially affiliated with the museum?

R² is not a partner in or manager of the Hangar B preservation effort. We are interested observers, makers, and unusually persistent readers of public records.

FAQ / 032

How much coffee is involved in making R² products?

Our legal department has requested that we describe the quantity as “commercially reasonable.”

We do not have a legal department.

FAQ / 033

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes. Wholesale access is available to approved retailers and businesses with an active wholesale account.

The protected catalog and pricing are visible only after approval.

Explore Wholesale →
FAQ / 034

How do I apply for a wholesale account?

Submit the public wholesale application with enough business context for a considered review. Applying does not guarantee approval, and no account is activated automatically.

Request a Wholesale Account →
FAQ / 035

What is the wholesale minimum order?

The minimum wholesale order is 12 jewelry pieces total.

Packaging and display items do not count toward the jewelry minimum.

Review Wholesale Terms →
FAQ / 036

Can I mix designs to reach the wholesale minimum?

Yes. Eligible jewelry designs and variants may be mixed to reach 12 pieces, with no per-design minimum.

Eligibility and availability still vary by product and variant.

Review Wholesale Terms →
FAQ / 037

What happens after I apply for wholesale?

R² reviews the application. Approved accounts receive access to the protected wholesale catalog and current pricing.

A submitted wholesale order is a request subject to availability and fulfillment review. R² then proposes a ship-ready timeline, which the customer must accept before the order is confirmed.

FAQ / 038

Where can I read Shop Policies?

The Shop Policies page summarizes retail ordering, shipping, returns, earrings, damage, custom work, and marketplace boundaries without requiring archaeological interpretation.

FAQ / 039

Is this all a bit much for a shop?

Yes.

Next question.

FAQ / 040

How do I contact R²?

Use the public Contact page for questions, custom-work discussions, and properly sourced corrections.

For an existing Etsy order, use Etsy Messages so the order context stays attached.

Better yet, bring citations. Nothing says affection quite like a properly sourced correction.

FAQ / 042

FAQ / 043

Is there a secret page?
